Mighty Double Barrel Bubbler vs Steel Stream: Which for Mighty+?

In short: our Mighty double barrel bubbler, the Typhoon, sends vapour through two internal glass water chambers for a longer path, and it is the widest piece at 190 × 140 mm but only about 100 g. The Steel Stream side bubbler combines water with a stainless steel bead cooling path, in a smaller 170 × 120 mm shape that weighs about 150 g. Both attach to the Mighty+ cooling unit with a silicone gasket, and both are listed for the Mighty, Mighty+, Crafty and Crafty+. Choose the Typhoon for the longer glass path at a table; choose the Steel Stream for water plus steel beads in a smaller, narrower shape.

Our beginner's guide to Mighty and Crafty bubblers introduces all three of our designs. This article compares the two upgrade options in detail and looks at how each behaves on the Mighty+ specifically, including how the Booster and Superbooster settings change the case for extra cooling. Both bubblers are third-party pieces designed by The Vapetrix, not Storz & Bickel products.

Typhoon double barrel bubbler for the Mighty and Crafty

1. How a Mighty Bubbler Attachment Fits

Each comes with two silicone gaskets, and our listings describe attaching the bubbler to the cooling unit connection with a gasket, where the stock mouthpiece normally sits. The cooling unit and its screens stay in place, so you load and heat the device as usual. If you are unsure about a fit detail, check with us before ordering.

Both are listed only for the Mighty, Mighty+, Crafty and Crafty+, so neither fits the Venty or Veazy. The Steel Stream listing describes a side-mounted design that keeps the main water chamber away from the device, to reduce the risk of water travelling back during normal use.

Figures are from our product listings; spares are in our Mighty and Crafty accessories collection. The Cascade side bubbler is the single-chamber baseline the other two build on.

3. The Typhoon Double Barrel

The Typhoon double barrel bubbler has two internal glass water chambers, which our listing says increase the distance the vapour travels before it reaches the mouthpiece. Our listing suggests adding only a small amount of water.

  • Strengths: the longest path of our three Mighty bubblers, glass throughout the attachment, light for its size, and easy to see when it needs cleaning.
  • Trade-offs: the widest footprint, so it is a table piece, and two chambers mean a little more rinsing.

4. The Steel Stream

Our store lists it as the 'Steel Stream' Water Side Bubbler (Dual Cooling); the listing text also calls it the Steel Stream XL. Our listing describes vapour passing through water filtration and a stainless steel bead cooling path.

  • Strengths: two different stages in a shorter, narrower piece than the Typhoon.
  • Trade-offs: about 50 g heavier than the Typhoon, and the beads must be rinsed and fully dried with the glass.

We have not measured vapour temperatures, so we will not claim one cools more than the other by a set amount. Both add something the single-chamber Cascade does not: a second glass chamber or a bed of steel beads.

5. Mighty+ Specifics: Booster, Balance and Screens

Booster and Superbooster

Storz & Bickel's support pages give three factory preset levels: a basic temperature of 180 °C, a Booster at +15 °C (195 °C) and a Superbooster at +30 °C over the base (210 °C). Press the on/off switch twice for Booster or three times for Superbooster, and each returns to the basic temperature automatically 90 seconds after it is reached. If you often use the boost levels and find the vapour warm, that is the situation a longer path or extra stage is aimed at; we have not measured the difference.

Balance

A silicone gasket is a softer fit than the stock mouthpiece, and both pieces put 100–150 g of glass, plus water, on that joint. As a practical precaution, use the Mighty+ on a flat surface or keep a hand on the glass rather than letting it hang off the gasket.

The cooling unit still matters

A bubbler sits after the cooling unit, not instead of it. Storz & Bickel's manual says a clogged screen must be replaced, and a clogged screen will make either bubbler feel tight. Our guide to coarse vs fine screens for the Mighty helps if the draw stays restricted.

6. Setting Up and First Draws

  1. Load the filling chamber and refit the cooling unit as normal.
  2. Pull out the stock mouthpiece and keep it safe for portable use.
  3. Fit a gasket to the bubbler's connector and attach it securely to the cooling unit.
  4. Take a test draw before heating. If you hear air leaking at the joint, reseat the gasket.
  5. Add a small amount of water, as our listings suggest.
  6. Heat up and draw slowly and evenly. A gentle pull makes splashing less likely.

If the draw feels tight, things worth checking are the water level, the cooling unit screen and whether the gasket is seated flat.

7. Cleaning Both

Both listings recommend cleaning with isopropyl alcohol, rinsing thoroughly with warm water and letting the piece dry fully before use. Fresh water for each session is simple housekeeping. For a step-by-step method, see how to clean water bubblers and glass attachments.

For the cooling unit, Storz & Bickel's manual says to clean the screens and parts with rinsing water or isopropyl alcohol, and never to clean the device itself with a direct water jet or steam.

8. Which One to Buy

  • The Typhoon if your Mighty+ lives on a desk and you want the longest glass path at the lowest weight.
  • The Steel Stream if you want a smaller piece with a metal cooling stage as well as water.
  • The Cascade if you want the simplest single-chamber water option.
  • Neither if you want to stay portable. The Classic Short Glass Mouthpiece is listed as a short, pocketable glass option, though like any silicone fit it is less secure than the stock plastic mouthpiece.

9. Quick Answers

Do these fit the original Mighty as well as the Mighty+? Yes. Both are listed for the Mighty, Mighty+, Crafty and Crafty+.

Do I need a 14 mm adapter? Not for these two. Both are listed with silicone gaskets that fit the cooling unit connection. Standard-joint water pipes are a different route that needs an adapter.

Is the Steel Stream the same as the Steel Stream XL? For the Mighty and Crafty, yes: our store title is the 'Steel Stream' Water Side Bubbler, and the listing text calls it the Steel Stream XL. We sell a separate Steel Stream XL for the Arizer Solo 3 and Air Max, which does not fit the Mighty.

Will a Mighty bubbler fit the Venty? No. Both listings limit compatibility to the Mighty and Crafty series.
